The story behind the look

A year after her metallic singles dress and leopard doubles outfit, Mattek returned to the US Open in a black tank covered with fine white zebra-line graphics, paired with a white pleated skirt. The contrast created a sharp division between the graphic top and plain skirt.

She still competed under the name Bethanie Mattek at this tournament. This entry keeps the 2008 zebra look separate from the leopard garments she wore in earlier seasons; the Under Armour mark is visible in the historical photograph.
