The story behind the look

Nike dressed Sharapova in white for her 2008 Australian Open championship run. Narrow vertical pleats down the centre front gave the bodice a shirt-bib effect, with smooth side panels shaping the waist.

A second band of closely spaced pleats finished the short hem. Those small changes in texture made the nearly monochrome dress distinctive without relying on a bold print.
